Alisa Mesa Set To Join Women’s Volleyball For 2011 Season

Head coach Rob Machan has announced the addition of incoming freshman Alisa Mesa (Long Beach, CA) to the women's volleyball program for the 2011 campaign.  Mesa is a standout setter for Long Beach Poly, the third ranked high school team in the nation.  In 2010, Mesa led her squad to a 39-3 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in league play.

"Alisa is a very exciting and dynamic athlete. Not only is she an outstanding setter, but an exceptional all around player as well," commented Machan.

Mesa was a co-captain of the 2010 Long Beach Poly squad that reached the California Division I state championship game.  Mesa also garnered MVP honors as her team won the Redondo Union Power Classic earlier in the season.  At the conclusion of the season Mesa received the Steve Lewis award, which is presented to a player in the Long Beach area who exhibits the utmost determination and discipline.

Long Beach Poly was also the high school attended by current Pioneer, and 2010 second team All-NEC selection, Jessica Colberg (Long Beach, CA).

"Alisa success at the highest levels of our sport in club and high school will have her well prepared to be a very strong addition to our program."
