BROOKLYN, N.Y. (October 2, 2010) - Sacred Heart sophomore Johanna Ovsenek (London, Ontario) and freshman Dianis Mercado (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) each posted 11 kills to lead the Pioneers to a 3-0 win at St. Francis (NY) on Saturday. The Pioneers ran their winning streak to eight-striaght with the win as they move to 3-0 in the Northeast Conference
The Pioneers (13-4, 3-0 NEC) posted a .341 hitting percentage, with 47 kills on the afternoon. Ovsenek's 11 kills came on 18 attempts against just one error, a .556 percentage. She also added a solo block and six block assists to her stat totals.
Mercado finished with a double double adding 10 digs to her 11 kills. Senior Courtney Kidd-Kaduebek (Santa Barbara, CA) passed out 38 assists with four digs, three service aces, two kills and a block for the Pioneers.
SHU, who is off to the best start in school history at 13-4, will return to Brooklyn on Sunday to take on the defending NEC Champion Long Island Blackbirds.
