Sacred Heart (0-1) showed fight in the third game as the two teams exchanged points early and were level at 10-10.  The Pioneers then pulled ahead with four straight points, including two kills from Malie Hetherington (Thousand Oaks, CA) and a service ace from Elise Sage (Greenwood Village, CO).  The Gaels kept it tight at 23-22 and 24-23 but would not be able to close the gap.  A kill from Ashlyn Trimble (Temecula, CA) gave SHU the 25-23 victory and put the match into the fourth set.

The Gaels again built an early lead as they jumped out in front 13-6.  The Pioneers fought off two match points but St. Mary's (CA) proved to be too much in the end.  SMC won the final game 25-16 to clinch the 3-1 match victory.  Megan York led the way for the Gaels offense with 18 kills and a .306 hitting percentage.
