SHU Track & Field Earns 17 All-NEC Selections, Women’s Coaching Staff Of The Year

2017 All-NEC Teams

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's and women's track and field teams garnered a combined 17 All-Northeast Conference selections on Friday, as well as the 2017 Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Led by head coach Christian Morrison and assistant coaches Tim Beach, Ranard Adkison, Megan  Patterson, and Kevin Gilhuly, the Pioneers won their third consecutive NEC Women's Outdoor Track And Field Championship. This is Morrison's 18th NEC Coach of the Year award covering cross country, indoor and outdoor track. His staff was named Coaching Staff of the Year for the indoor season this year as well.

The women's track team had nine All-NEC selections. Tara Connelly and Mareena DiMilia were named All-NEC First Team in the steeplechase and hammer throw, respectively. DiMilia was also the Co-Most Outstanding Field Performer in throws. Kayla Lawrence and Nicole Bartosch both earned a pair of spots on the All-NEC Second Team. Lawrence is on the team for the 400 meters and Bartosch in the long jump. Both of them, along with Taylor Ann D'Agostino and Jacqueline Thorne, made the Second Team as part of the 4x400 relay. Selina Sampieri (pole vault) and Kate Svensen (10,000m) were also on the second team. The women's team had a pair of All-Rookie honorees in Jody DiCicco (5,000m) and Madelyn Bradway (discus).

Trevor Guerrera led the men's team with a pair of First Team honors in the 800 and 1500 meters. Connor Rog was a Second Team pick in the 10,000 meters, with Giuseppe DeLucia (pole vault) and Patrick DiIorio (javelin) also earning spots on that team as well. Nicholas Pandolfo (1500m), Jeffrey Young (110m hurdles), and Evan Cleveland (400m hurdles) were placed on the All-Rookie Team.
