Sacred Heart Women's Track and Field Ranked 12th Regionally

(Fairfield, CT) - The Sacred Heart Women's Track and Field team received the # 12 ranking in the Northeast Region, which includes New England and New York State.  Teams accumulate points based on the regional ranking of athletes in their individual events, and on the regional ranking of its relay teams.

Sacred Heart has been led by Kimberley Deloreto (Hillsdale, NJ) in the mile run (5:02.70), 3000 meter (10.00.80), and 5,000 meter (17:20.76).  Athalia Smith (New Britain, CT) has led the way in the shot put (13.51 m) and weight throw (18.39 m), followed closely by her sister Chantaul Smith (New Britain, CT) in the weight throw (15.62 m). Carol Cress (Butler, PA) has also done well in both the shot put (13.41 m) and weight throw (12.97 m). Bonnie Kilis (Marlborough, CT) has contributed in the pentathlon with a high score of 3380.  Ashley Matakevich (Stratford, CT) has dominated the long jump (5.51 m) and triple jump (11.31 m).

The Pioneer women have an overall score of 85.01, and trail only number #1 UCONN in the state of Connecticut.
