Swim Teams Picks Up a Win 135-74 Over West Conn.

Danbury, Conn.—The Sacred Heart swim team picked up its second win of the season today over Western Connecticut State today 135-74.

The team picked up two first place finishes in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. The 200 Medley team of Rachel McGill (Old Lyme, Conn.), Rachel McGrath (Dorchester, Mass.), Meghan Bailey (Walpole, Mass.) and Allison Thurston (Berlin, Conn.) finished in 1:49.56, while the 400 Medley team of McGill, Laurie Casado (Queens, N.Y.), Liz Bennett (Fairbanks, Al.) and Malvina Reinhold(Gothenburg, Sweden) finished in 4:12.59.

Six Pioneer swimmers picked up first place finishes in individual events. Amy Nunes (Seekonk, Mass.) beat out the competition in the 1650 Freestyle finishing in 19:21.71. Reinhold picked up won the 100 and 200 Free events finishing in :58.82 and 2:00.92 respectively. Senior Captain Bailey nabbed the top spot in the 200 Butterfly (2:14.77) and 500 Free (5:30.72). Casado finished the 200 Breaststroke in 2:33.61 for a first place finish. McGill also grabbed a top spot, swimming the 200 Backstroke in just 2:14.77.

The Pioneers are back in the pool February 25 at the Northeast Conference Tournament.
