Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart softball team will have a new-look facility this season as the program defends its 2011 Northeast Conference crown. The groundbreaking to commence the renovation and expansion of Pioneer Park is set for Sunday, November 13 at 12:30 pm.
"We are grateful for the university's commitment to the Sacred Heart softball program," commented co-head coach Elizabeth Luckie. "The renovations to Pioneer Park will make it a start-of-the-art facility and provide a great collegiate softball atmosphere. We are thrilled to be able to call it our home."
The new Pioneer Park will include stadium seating, a new press box, locker rooms connected to both dugouts, as well as a bullpen and batting cage along each foul line. Sacred Heart has posted a 30-15 record at Pioneer Park over the last three seasons and have captured a pair of Northeast Conference championships.
"We have had great success the last few seasons and this new facility will enhance our already expansive recruiting efforts," said Luckie.
The event will be open to the public and those who RSVP can attend the following reception to be held at the William H. Pitt Center Board Room. To RSVP please contact Sheryl Madison at firstname.lastname@example.org or (203) 371-7917 by November 9, 2011.
