Fairfield, CT - Sacred Heart softball Co-Head Coaches Elizabeth Luckie and Pam London recently completed a successful Revolution Summer Camp, hosting 84 local youth players. The camp featured lessons on hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running and ended with two days of scrimmages.
"We had a great turnout and it certainly makes us happy to know that there is so much enthusiasm for the sport we love," commented London. "The young ladies were very eager to learn and play hard."
The camp was led by Sacred Heart's entire softball coaching staff, which includes Luckie, London, and pitching coach Vicky White. Current Pioneer players Melissa Tobin (Hudson, MA), Lisa Dean (Fairfield, CT), Carley Rudloff (Queen Creek, AZ), Nikki Surkes (Brightwaters, NY), and Taylor Lane (Lisbon, CT) all contributed throughout the week-long instruction. Alumni Karen Fortier and 2011 All-Northeast Conference first team selection Jen Russell returned to Sacred Heart to take part in the camp. SHU volleyball assistant coach Amanda Roleder also contributed to the clinic, providing endurance and agility training.
"Our Revolution Camp is a great opportunity for these young ladies to be in a college atmosphere and get instruction from division I coaches and players," said London. "This was a positive experience for everyone involved and we are looking forward to making next year's clinic even better."
