Fairfield, Conn. – Sacred Heart University Women's Soccer Head Coach Kim Banner announced that senior defender Alyssa Brandofino (East Northport, NY), junior midfielder Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA), senior goalkeeper Sydney Judkins (South Park, PA), and senior goalie Rebecca Senetcen (Ansonia, CT) will be team captains for the 2013 Pioneer Women's Soccer Team. Last season, the Pioneers went 9-9-1 in the regular season before falling to Saint Francis University in the Northeast Conference semi-finals.

Judkins only gave up 12 goals last season for the Pioneers, playing in all 19 games. She recorded five shutouts in 2012 and her 0.77 goals against average ranked second best in the Northeast Conference.

"Sydney has a strong presence on the field and will help lead the defense and team this season. She has been an integral part for two of our Northeast Conference playoff appearances," Stated Coach Banner.

Verrette started 16 games last season for the Pioneers notching three goals and four assists. Verrette started 18 of 19 games as a freshman, scoring her first career goal on 9/4/11 against Stony Brook.

"Kristin has been a two-year starter at midfield for us. She was especially clutch last season, putting in several key goals that helped us make the Northeast Conference playoffs," Coach Banner said.

Brandofino was a defensive stopper for the Pioneers last season, recording a goal and an assist. The Pioneers only gave up 1.17 goals per game last season. As a sophomore, Brondofino led the team with six assists, starting 17 games that season.

"Alyssa has been a three year starter and an All-Conference player for us. She is a natural born leader that will help Sydney lead our defense," Coach stated.

Senetcen has not appeared in a game for the Pioneers but has been a consummate team player and a leader on and off the field throughout her three-year career.

"Rebecca brings pride and dedication to this program. She is the heart and soul of our team," Coach Banner commented.
