Double Overtime Goal Lifts Robert Morris Past Pioneers 1-0

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA (October 2, 2011) - Brianne Bell delivered the game-winning goal just under five minutes into the second overtime to lift the Robert Morris Colonials over Sacred Heart, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in a Northeast Conference tilt.  The loss, SHU's second-straight, dropped the Pioneers to 1-2-1 in the NEC and 5-4-3 overall.

Sacred Heart (5-4-3, 1-2-1 NEC) nearly doubled up Robert Morris (7-4-1, 1-1-0 NEC) in offensive opportunities but couldn't light the scoreboard on a cold and rainy afternoon.  SHU out shot Robert Morris 13-7 and had 14 corners to just three for the Colonials.  Defensively, the Pioneers held Robert Morris to just one shot on goal for the entire second half and overtime before Bell's game-winner in the 105th minute.

Bell's golden-goal was set-up by Jamie Morra following a SHU corner.  Morra sent in a deep crossing pass where Bell settled and one-touch fired from point blank range past Pioneer keeper Sydney Judkins (South Park, PA).

Sacred Heart got off three shots during the first overtime, but Ashley Moore (Levittown, NY), Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA) and Jen Mulvey (Manalapan, NJ) all missed the mark wide right.  Judkins made two saves in taking the loss while Jessica Olin turned away five Pioneer shots, three in the second half, to earn the win.

The Pioneers remain on the road next weekend, traveling to Bryant on Sunday, October 9th.  SHU will then close out the season with four of five at home on Campus Field.
