Head coach Kim Banner recently announced the 2010 schedule for the Sacred Heart women's soccer team. The Pioneers open the season with four straight home games in the month of August, starting with a 7:00 pm tilt against Army August 20. SHU will also take on Providence, Saint Peter's, and Binghamton during that stretch.
The Pioneers first road game will be September 4 as they travel to Maine to take on the Black Bears. Sacred Heart then returns home the following weekend for home games against Stony Brook and Rider. Banner's squad rounds out non-conference play with two road games versus Ivy League opponents Yale and Brown September 17 and 19, respectively.
Northeast Conference action opens up in Teaneck, NJ as the Pioneers take to the pitch against Fairleigh Dickinson. Sacred Heart then plays three straight games in the friendly confines of Campus Field against Bryant, Long Island, and Wagner. October 15 and 17 will be the Pioneers long conference road trip this season with tilts against Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth. Sacred Heart will have its last two homes of the season the next weekend as they welcome Saint Francis (PA) and Robert Morris to Fairfield, CT. The game October 24 against the Colonials will also include senior day festivities. SHU rounds out the 2010 season on the road against instate rivals Quinnipiac and Central Connecticut State.
The NEC tournament will include the top four teams in the regular season standings at the home of the high seed. The tournament will take place the first weekend of November with the semifinals Friday while the championship game will be played Sunday.
