SHU Rowing Places 7th at MAAC Championships

Mercer Lake, NJ – The Sacred Heart rowing team took home 7th place over the weekend in the MAAC Championships held in Mercer Lake, New Jersey.

SHU was victorious in the Varsity 2 race and also got bronze in the Championship Varsity 4 race and the Novice 4. Jaclyn Smith (Williston Park, NY) and Danielle Palmaccio (East Moriches, NY) won the Varsity 2 race with a time of 8:29.59. The team of Smith, Palmaccio, Jillian Gray (Andover, MA) and Catherine Lott (Roxbury, CT) with Emily Casey (Arlington, MA) as the coxswain came in third place in the Championship 4 with a time of 7:59.19.

The Novice 4 crew of Lott, Gray, Emma Trampani (Basking Ridge, NJ), and Taylor Langon (Kingston, NY) also grabbed bronze with a time of 8:24.45.

"As a program we had a great showing. This is the first year when we were able to field all the championship events and we won the Varsity 2 and got bronze in the Championship Varsity 4 and the Novice 4," Head Coach Nicoleta Mantescu commented.

SHU finishes their season at the Dad Vails at Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on May 10th and 11th.
