Pioneer Rowers Continue to Improve at Head of Fish Regatta

The Sacred Heart rowing team sent five boats into competition at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga, New York over the weekend.  The women's open 4+ boat took home a third place medal in their race in one of the highlights of the weekend.

In the Woman's Collegiate Lightweight (Ltwt) 4+, the team of junior Danielle French (Northport, NY), sophomores Danielle Palmaccio (East Moriches, NY), Chiara Zambelli (Lebanon, NJ), Lynn Ciccarelli (Holmdel, NJ) and Kaitlin Rivest (Ludlow, MA) (cox) came in second (out of 3 teams) with a time of 15:50.22.

The Woman's Open 4+ race featured the team of sophomore Lindsay New (White Plains, NJ), junior Jen Pampillonio (Yorktown Heights, NY), senior Devon Clark (Hawthorne, NJ), sophomore Elizabeth Cho (Middletown, CT) and freshman Victoria Allers (Clifton Park, NY) (cox) finished third among eight boats in the race with a time of 15:39.39, good for the third place medal.

In the Woman's Collegiate Novice 4+ division, the team of Allers, sophomore Sarah Prizzia (Kingston, NY), Amanda Casey (Bronx, NY), freshman Kaitlyn Blanda (Huntington, NY) and Rivist (cox) came up one second short of a third place finish with a time of 17:11.77.

The Woman's Collegiate Ltwt 8+ team of Palmaccio, French, Zambelli, sophomore Kristen Brozek (Acton, MA), Clark, sophomore Annemarie A'Hearn (Mahopac, NY), Blanda and Rivest (cox) placed third (out of 4 boats) with a time of 14:35.12.

Lastly, the Woman's Open 8+ team of Allers, Pampillonio, New, Cho, Prizzia, Casey, Clark, sophomore Alanna Cofrancesco (Meridan, CT) and Rivest (cox) took fourth in their race with a time of 13:59.38.

The team will take part in their final race of the fall on Sunday, November 7th at the Fall Metropolitan Regata at Orchard Beach Lagoon, New York.
