SHU's Vaccaro Nabs Second NEC WLAX Award

FAIRFIELD, CT (April 8, 2013) - Sacred Heart junior Shelby Vaccaro (Brightwaters, NY) earned her second Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week award of the season after guiding the Pioneers to a pair of NEC wins last week.

Vaccaro led the Pioneers to a perfect 2-0 weekend, scoring eight goals and totaling 10 points in wins over Wagner (12-8) and LIU Brooklyn (17-4). Against the Seahawks, she scored five goals on five shots and added one assist for six points. She then tallied a hat trick and recorded four points along with two ground balls and two draw controls in the win over the Blackbirds. Additionally, she was a perfect 3-for-3 in free-position attempts on the weekend. Vaccaro currently leads the Pioneers in scoring with 30 goals and 48 points, averaging a league-leading 4.36 points per game.

Vaccaro and the Pioneers are on the road this week facing Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth as the race for a NEC Touranment berth continues.
