Women's Hockey Four-Game Unbeaten Streak Snapped in 4-2 Loss to Wesleyan

(Bridgeport, CT) – The Sacred Heart Women's Hockey team fell 4-2 to Wesleyan Tuesday night at the Wonderland of Ice, ending a four game unbeaten streak.

After a scorless first period, SHU took a short-lived lead at 2:54 of the first on a goal by Natasha Klinoff (Concord, MA).  She knocked in a rebound on a shot from Melissa Robbins (Nashua, NH) after a pass from Maura Leahy (Ashburnham, MA).

However, Wesleyan reeled off four unanswered goals, including three in the second period, to take a commanding lead.  Jenny Robinson tied the game at 5:52 for the Cardinals, set up by Cara Jankowski and Hannah Jellinek.  Caitlin Bray put Wesleyan on top at 11:45, jamming a rebound loose in a scrum in the crease assisted by Jennie Herrick and Mackenzie McPike.  Jordan Schildhaus made it a two-goal lead at 17:19, with assists going to Glenn Hartman-Mattson and Laura Mead. 

In the third, Wesleyan added another on a goal by Mackey Hemphill, who poked in a rebound off a shot from the point by Becca Koppel at 11:45.  SHU cut its deficit in half at 17:06 on a goal by Alex Davis (Pembroke, MA), who stuffed in a centering pass from behind the net by Hanna Skelley (Wolfeboro, NH).

The Pioneers are next in action December 1 when SHU travels to Williams for 7:00 pm faceoff.
