Women's Hockey Falls to Lindenwood 5-2

(Bridgeport, CT) – The Lindenwood Lions completed a two-game weekend sweep of the Sacred Heart Women's Hockey team 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Wonderland of Ice.

Alison Wickenheiser gave the Lions an early lead 19 seconds into the game, set up by Alyssa West.  Brett Lobreau made it 2-0 Lindenwood 1:01 later, with Megan Cox and Wickenheiser picking up the assists.  SHU got on the board at 4:01 of the first on a goal by Nicole Palazzo (Rocky Hill, CT), with Tara Kent (Glenview, IL) earning the helper.

Wickenheiser scored her second of the game shorthanded and unassisted 30 seconds into the second period.  Kendra Broad made it 4-1 Lions with a Jordyn Constance assist.  Melissa Robbins (Nashua, NH) poked in a rebound goal on the power play at 17:18, with Kent and Palazzo assisting.

Wickenheiser completed the hat trick with the only goal of the third, assisted by West and Allysson Arcibal, at 10:06.

Alexius Schutt (Elk River, MN) made 38 saves in net for the Pioneers.

SHU hosts Rhode Island for two games at the Wonderland of Ice next weekend, beginning Friday, January 27 at 7:00 pm.
