Women's Golf Competes in Day One of Hoya Invitational

BEALLSVILLE, Md. - The Sacred Heart University women's golf team sits in 12th, out of 17, after the first two rounds of the Hoya Invitational, hosted by Georgetown.  The Pioneers shot a 338 in the first and 334 to in second to end the day at the par-72, 6,125 yard Members Club at Four Streams with a team score of 672.

Sophomore Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) cracked into the top 20 with a 160 (81-79) to claim a tie for 17th.  Freshman Jennifer Clinton posted the next best score for SHU with a 167 (82-85).

Junior Carly Bergin (Binghamton, N.Y.) registered a 172 (88-84), while classmate Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) shot a 173 (87-86).  Fellow junior Briana Carnahan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) rounded out the day for Sacred Heart with a 177 (88-89).

Nova Southeastern University sits in first place after round two with a score of 623, led by Sandra Changkija who is atop the leaderboard with a 146 (71-75).

The third and final round kicks off tomorrow morning at 9:00 am with a shotgun start.
