SAVANNAH, Ga. - Behind a second place finish from sophomore Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden), the Sacred Heart University women's golf team took second place at the Lonnie Barton Tournament, hosted by Long Island.
Riber shot a nine-over 153 to finish in a tie for second place in the 49 player field. Junior Carly Bergin (Binghamton, N.Y.) recorded the second lowest score by a Pioneer with a two-day total of 158, to land in eighth.
Also scoring for SHU were junior Briana Carnahan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and freshman Jennifer Clinton. Carnahan finished in a tie for 12th at 161, while Clinton tied for 14th, two strokes back at 163.
Junior Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) also came in 14th with an identical score to Clinton's 163 at 78-85.
As a team, Sacred Heart totaled a 637 for the tournament, finishing nine strokes off the pace set by the champions, Towson University (628).
The Pioneers return to action at the Georgetown Invitational, April 4-5.
