Riber Wins Rutgers Invite, Pioneers Finish Seventh

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Sophomore Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) shot a first round 79 and a second round 76 to finish atop the leaderboard at the Rutgers Invitational.  Overall, the Sacred Heart women's golf team finished seventh out of 20.

The Invitational took place at the 6,034 yard, par-72 Rutgers University Golf Course.

Junior Carly Bergin (Binghamton, N.Y.) finished second for the Pioneers with a 166 (88-78).  Sophomore Maria Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman Jennifer Clinton each shot a 171 for the tournament.

Sophomore Clair McGovern (Escondido, Calif.) recorded a tw-day score of 187.

Northeast Conference rival Fairleigh Dickinson took home the win with a team score of 642.  Bucknell (649) finished seven strokes off the lead for second, while Siena (655) took third.

The Pioneers are next in action when they host the Sacred Heart Fall Classic on October 24 and 25.
