Burke Joins Field Hockey as New Assistant Coach
(Fairfield, CT) - The Sacred Heart University Pioneers welcome Lauren Burke to her first season as Assistant Field Hockey Coach. Burke joins SHU after a season at Robert Morris as a graduate assistant. She will assist in aspects of the program including defensive strategy, recruiting, and operations.
"I'm very excited to add Lauren to the SHU Pioneer family, she is a great young coach, who will make an immediate impact on our program," said Heac Coach Katie Kloeckener.
Prior to joining the staff at Robert Morris, Burke served the 2010 season as Varsity Head Coach at Somers Central High School (N.Y.) Burke has accrued additional coaching experience with the US Field Hockey FUTURES programs in Vermont and New York which help cultivate and distinguish Olympic caliber athletes.
The Mahopac, NY native holds a Level 1 USA Field Hockey certification and served as the New York U-16 head coach as well as an assistant coach at the University of Vermont Field Hockey Academy since 2006. Most recently she assisted with the UConn youth clinic as an assistant coach.
A 2009 graduate of Vermont, Burke was a four-year letter winner with the Catamounts and earned appointment to the America East All-Tournament Team. Burke earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Exercise and Movement Sciences, as well as a Master of Science in Instructional Leadership at Robert Morris University.
