(Fairfield, CT) – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team has released its schedule for the upcoming 2012 season.
It begins at home on Aug. 24 when the Pioneers host Towson at Campus Field. SHU then travels to Storrs to take on UConn on Aug. 26. The following weekend, the Pioneers are on the road in Massachusetts, taking on Holy Cross on Sept. 2 before playing at Harvard on Sept. 3 Labor Day showdown.
SHU opens a three-game home game stretch on Sept. 8 when they host St. Joseph's. The following weekend, they welcome UC Davis on Sept. 14 and Rutgers Sept. 16, a game that the Pioneers will actually host at Yale University.
Sacred Heart closes out September with four road games – at Lehigh on Sept. 21, at Yale on Sept. 23, at Lock Haven on Sept. 29, and at La Salle on Sept. 30.
The Pioneers begin October with Northeast Conference play, opening with Quinnipiac at home on Oct. 7. SHU hosts Rider on Oct. 12 and Monmouth on Oct. 14 before hitting the road the following weekend on a Western Pennsylvania tour that takes them to St. Francis (PA) on Oct. 19 and Robert Morris on Oct. 21. Sacred Hearts hosts its final regular season home game against Bryant on Oct. 26, and closes the regular season on the road at Siena on Oct. 28.
Sacred Heart, of course, is seeking a return to the NEC Tournament, which runs Nov. 2-3 at the site of the number one seed. The NCAA Play In Game is on Nov. 6.
