(Fairfield, CT) – Three members of the Sacred Heart Field Hockey team were honored with 2011 All-NEC awards, announced by the Northeast Conference Thursday evening at the NEC Field Hockey Awards Banquet.
For the second straight year, Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) was named NEC Goalie of the Year. The graduate senior started all 18 games in goal for the Pioneers this season, finishing third in the NEC in saves (146) and saves per game (8.11). She also tallied a 2.29 goals against average and an .822 save percentage (2nd ) in NEC play, along with two of her three shutouts.
Nikki Kimborowicz (Biddeford, ME) made the All-NEC First Team on defense. The junior made a team-high three defensive saves, and tallied a goal with four assists in 16 starts in SHU's backfield.
Fellow defender Kim Pobutkiewicz (West Long Branch, NJ) earned All-NEC Second Team honors. After starting six games last season, the junior assisted five goals and made one defensive stop in 18 starts this year.
