Lincoln, Neb.--The Sacred Heart Bowling team was knocked out of the USBC xbowling Intercollegiate Team Championship by Kutztown University Sunday. In her last collegiate competition, Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) led the Pioneers averaging 21.78 per frame. She filled 21 of 22 opportunities in the match. Right behind her were junior Nicole Trudell (Coventry, R.I.) and rookie Corinne Maher (Brick Township, N.J.), who averaged 19.5 and 19.2 per frame respectively.
SHU took the first game 195-186 before dropping the next three (187-158, 211-182, 192-183). As they have many times this season, the Pioneers bounced back taking the fifth and sixth game (236-179, 223-189), forcing the deciding game seven.
Down 25 pins by the seventh frame, Maher and Trudell's strikes combined with a Kutztown open brought up Carbonetto in the tenth with the chance to win. The 2013 Junior Team USA member struck on the first ball followed by a solid 10 pin while the Kutztown anchor doubled to win 201-200.
