Morgan Merriman has been named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Player of the Week after stellar performances this past week. Merriman led Sacred Heart in scoring and shot nearly 60 percent from the field during a week that included victories over ACC and MAAC members. The 6-foot senior forward opened a three-game week by scoring 17 points in 18 minutes of action against Saint Peter's. She went 8-for-10 shooting and grabbed six rebounds in the 79-34 thumping of the MAAC member. Returning to her home city of Seattle, Wa. for Thanksgiving Weekend, Merriman poured in a game-high 22 points to spearhead Sacred Heart's win over ACC member Boston College at the Washington Dental Thanksgiving Tournament. Merriman made 9 of 11 field goal attempts and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line in a 54-48 win over the Eagles. She also grabbed six boards and swatted two shots in helping the Pioneers to their first-ever win over an ACC member. Merriman was unable to replicate that shooting success in the tournament title tilt against host Seattle. She managed five points, three steals and a pair of assists during 22 minutes of a 74-70 setback. For the week, Merriman averaged 14.7 points and 4.3 points per contest while shooting 59 percent from the floor.
