On the Road Again; Women's Hoops Heads to Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday
The Storyline... First place Sacred Heart is looking to make it three-straight against Fairleigh Dickinson after winning their last two games against Wagner (67-56) and Mount St. Mary's (72-54). The Knights are coming off a hard, close 49-51 loss to Central Connecticut State and are looking for just their second win all-time against The Pioneers.
The Series...The Pioneers lead the all time series against Fairleigh Dickinson 20-1. The only time Sacred Heart lost was on January 31, 2002 at Fairleigh Dickinson 64-60. SHU is a perfect 11-0 against the Knights when playing in the Pitt Center.
Scouting the the Knights... Fairleigh Dickinson holds a 10-12 record, 5-5 NEC, coming into Saturday's match up. The Knights have won one of their last four games, 54-43 over Bryant. Senio Mariyah Laury leads the team in scoring averaging 16.6 points per game. Freshman Erika Livermore leads the team in field goal percentages. Desirable Defense... Sacred Heart forced Wagner to turnover the ball 24 times in the 67-57 win on Monday night, the second highest this season. The Pioneers currently lead the league in scoring defense, only allowing opponents an average of 55.1 points per game. They are also second and third in three-point field goal perentage defense (28.2%) and field goal percentage defense (36.3%).
Coming Out Strong... The Pioneers have been coming out scoring this season. Sacred Heart is averaging 33.4 points in the first half, while only averaging 31.66 in the latter half of games.
