SHU Womens Basketball Concludes Successful NIKE Girls Basketball Camp, Two More to Follow

(Fairfield, CT) – Sacred Heart University Women's Basketball Head Coach Ed Swanson, his coaching staff, and several Pioneer players are wrapping up another successful Nike Girls Basketball Camp at the Pitt Center this week.

"It was a great week of camp," said Swanson.  "Our players and coaches did a great job making connections with the more than 140 campers in giving them specialized instruction on the fundamentals of the game.  Hopefully we gave them the tools to go home and get better."

The campers broke down into small groups for specialized instruction from SHU players and coaches, working on everything from pivoting, dribbling, shooting, and overall team play.

The campers ranged in age from 8 to 16, and came from as nearby as Fairfield and Bridgeport to as far away as Singapore and England.  More than 60 campers stayed overnight in campus dorms.

The first of three sessions began on Sunday, July 24 and ran through Thursday, July 29.  A second shorter session will run Friday, July 29 through Sunday, July 31, and a final session will run from Sunday July 31 through Thursday, August 4.
