Pioneers Sunk by Franklin & Marshall at Pitt Center

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University wrestling team dropped a home contest to Franklin & Marshall, 35-20, at the William H. Pitt Center Sunday afternoon.  Junior Jonathan Rizzitello (Paramus, N.J.) was victorious on the day to improve to 4-0 overall on the weekend.

Only six of 10 matches were wrestled due to forfeits.  The Pioneers vacated the 141, 149, and 197 lb. weight classes, while the Diplomats were absent at 125.

Senior Anthony Priore (Garwood, N.J.) shutout Eric Norgard for a 8-0 major decision at 157.  Rizzitello continued his successful weekend with a 13-5 major decision over Anthony Bongarzone at 165.

In the heavyweight bout, senior Paul Schweighardt (Tinton, Falls, N.J.) trailed much of the match, but was able to secure a win with a third period pin of Dan Canfield in 5:38.
