(Fairfield, CT) - Eleven Pioneers from the Outdoor Track and Field teams earned All-Conference honors from the Northeast Conference, announced this week. The awards are based on results from the NEC Championship at Mount St. Mary's May 5-6. All 1st place finishers at the NEC Outdoor Championships comprise the First Team, while all 2nd place finishers comprise the Second Team. The All-Rookie Teams are comprised of the top rookie finishers from each individual event.
From Men's Track and Field, Bertony Jean-Louis (Norwalk, CT) earned All-NEC First Team honors in the 110-Meter hurdles, shattering the conference record in 14.02s en route to a berth in the NCAA East Regional this weekend at the University of North Florida.
On the Men's All-NEC Second Team, Jeremy Rosado (Brooklyn, NY) followed his teammate Jean-Louis in the 110-Meter hurdles with a time of 14.61s. Scott Polis (East Patchogue, NY) also earned his spot on the team in Pole Vault with a bound of 4.40m, while Matthew Wagner (Brookhaven, NY) did so as well in Hammer Throw with a toss of 53.01m.
Gregory Hazell (Airmont, NY) is the one freshmen on the Men's All-NEC Rookie team, with a leap of 14.46m in the Triple Jump.
The Women's Track and Field team is led by Athalia Smith (New Britain, CT), who took gold in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 57.33m and joined the All-NEC First Team. She joins Jean-Louis at the NCAA East Regional this weekend.
The All-NEC Second Team includes Alyssa Selmquist (Northford, CT) in the 10000 Meter with a time of 37:35.72 and Lindsay Aponte (Randolph, NJ) in Shot Put with a toss of 14.35m.
The All-NEC Rookie team is comprised of Aisha Wright (Chesire, CT) in the 200m with a time of 25.11s, Emma Bolduc (Peterborough, NH) in the 5000m with a time of 17:57.26, and Elizabeth Hutchins (Pawcatuck, CT) in the 10000m with a time of 39:03.50.
