(Landover, MD) – The Sacred Heart Men's and Women's Track and Field teams completed Day One of the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George Sports & Learning Complex with both teams sitting in second place.
Kimberley Deloreto won the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 10:07.46, earning the Pioneers ten points. Brittany Llobel earned three points for SHU with a sixth place finish time of 10:28.15 in the same event.
Angelica Johnson finished third in the Women's 60 Meter Dash preliminary with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.65 seconds. Bertony Jean-Louis and Anthony Pastore finished sixth and seventh respectively in the Men's 60 Meter Dash preliminaries with qualifying times of 7.07 seconds and 7.11 seconds. Jean Louis also qualified for the men's 60 Meter Hurdles with a preliminary time of 8.02 seconds.
Matthew Lyhne qualified in Men's 400 Meter Dash with a time of 50.91 seconds, good for third place in the preliminaries. Justin McLoughlin also qualified in Men's 500 Meter Dash with a time of 1:07.06 for a fifth place preliminary finish.
In the Men's 800 Meter Run Preliminaries, Patrick Peterson finished eighth with a qualifying time of 1:56.79.
Athalia Smith qualified for the ECAC's in the Women's Weight Throw and earned SHU eight points, with a toss of 17.95 meters to finish second. Her sister Chauntal Smith earned the Pioneers two more points in the same event with a toss of 15.55 meters and seventh-place finish.
Bonnie Kilis gained six points for the Pioneers in the High Jump with a 1.67 meter leap and third-place finish.
Chase Petrucci added eight points for SHU in Men's Shot Put, good for second place and an IC4A qualifier with 16.98 meters.
Ashley Matakevich qualified for the finals in the Women's Long Jump with a sixth place preliminary finish and leap of 5.42 meters, earning SHU three points. Brandon Hutchinson gained a point for SHU with 6.69 meter leap in Men's Long Jump.
