(West Point, NY) – The Sacred Heart Pioneer men's and women's track and field teams both competed in the Carleton Crowell Invitational this past weekend, hosted by Army. While there was no team scoring in the meet, the women had a particularly strong meet with seven individual wins and two ECAC qualifying performances.
5000 Meters – Senior captain Kimberly DeLoreto (Hillsdale, NJ) won the 5000, lapping the field twice, while recording a Northeast Conference leading time of 17:30.12. She also surpassed the ECAC Championship qualifying standard (17:33.64), and the New England Championships standard (18:20.64). In addition to leading the NEC, DeLoreto's time ranks her 2nd in the ECAC, and 3rd in all of Division I. Sophomore teammate Michelle Navarro (Piscataway, NJ) placed 2nd in the race in 19:19.90, her time good for 2nd on the NEC performance list.
1000 Meters – Sophomore Olivia Civardi (Brightwaters, NY) was never pressed, and ran to an easy win in the 1000 meters in 3:14.04, followed by junior Lauren Gruchala (Colden, NY) in 2nd, and freshman Moira Hilt (Albany, NY) in 3rd.
5000 Meters – Senior captains Andrew Houghtalen (West Charlton, NY) and Daniel Koehler (Red Hook, NY) placed 2nd and 3rd in the 5000 meters, respectively, with times of 15:38.40 and 15:42.85. Houghtalen moved into 3rd on the NEC rankings list with his performance, and Koehler moved into 4th.
Mile – In a tactical race that started off slowly and came down to a kick, junior Jeffrey Lusignan (East Montpelier, VT) placed 2nd in 4:28.12, and sophomore Christopher Connelly (Medford, NY) placed 3rd in 4:28.96.
