Pioneers Come Up Short at Quinnipiac, 4-3

HAMDEN, CT (April 11, 2012) - The Sacred Heart men's tennis wrapped up the Northeast Conference portion of their dual match schedule falling at Quinnipiac, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon.  The Pioneers finish 1-4 against NEC competition with the loss.

The Bobcats opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches to take the doubles point.  The two teams would go on to split the six singles matches with SHU winning at #1, #4 and #6.

Senior Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) won his fourth-straight singles match and improved to 3-2 against NEC opponents with a three set win over Andrew Weeden at #1.  Sullo wrapped 6-2, 6-2 wins in the first and third sets around a 6-2 loss in set number two for the win.  He improved to a team-best 11-9 in singles play this year.

Junior Logan Mohring (Naples, FL) also posted a three-set win, beating Corey Morgenstern at #4, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.   Senior Jacob Miller (West Chesterfield, NH) won in three-sets at #6, beating John Petrini 4-6, 7-6, 10-8.

The Pioneers host the Fairfield Stags on Wednesday and will head to UConn on Saturday to round out dual match play heading into next weekend's NEC Championship.
