Senior men's tennis player Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) has been selected to play in the 2010 ITA / D'Nova All-American Tournament at the University of Tulsa next month. Kasyanov has been selected for the pre-qualifying event on October 2nd and 3rd.
The prestigous tournament is scheduled for October 2nd through the 10th in Tulsa. Fans can access the draws and follow the action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association website, itatennis.com.
Kasyanov was named the 2009-10 Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year after posting 25-10 singles record including a 17-4 mark playing at the #1 spot in dual matches. Once the schedule resumed in January, Kasyanov posted an impressive 15-4 singles record including a stretch of seven-straight wins during the spring.
After claiming eight NEC Player of the Week awards last season, including six of the eight awarded during the spring, Kasyanov is off to another stellar start this fall. He and teammate Nick Mazzarese (Stonington, CT) shared the first NEC weekly honor of the 2010-11 season after winning the Pool #2 draw at the Fairfield Doubles Invitational.
Prior to the season, Kasyanov earned a wild card qualifying spot at the 2010 Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament where he lost a hard fought battle with Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili, the 100th ranked player in the world at the time.
