(Stony Brook, NY) - Marcello Castro (Parana, Brazill) drilled a free kick from nearly 30 yards out in the 70th minute for the game's only goal, as the Sacred Heart University Pioneers Men's Soccer team improved to 3-2 with a 1-0 victory at Stony Brook Thursday night.
After a Stony Brook penalty, Castro picked the top right corner of the goal to take advantage of a Seawolve's penalty for his second goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner.
Stony Brook outshot SHU 16-8, including 9-3 in the first, but the Pioneers slowed the tempo in the second. Alex Fait (Ottawa, ON) made saves on all five shots on goal against the Pioneers, including four in the first half, to allow Castro's goal to decide the game.
Sacred Heart will not play again until September 24, when the Pioneers host NJIT at 7:00 p.m. at Campus Field.
