Sacred Heart alum Tim Katz (’10) was drafted by the Long Island Lizards in the eighteenth round of the Major League Lacrosse supplemental draft. The attacker was picked 140th overall.
Long Island picked fourth overall in the draft. They selected Chris Passavia from Maryland with their first pick.
In his final season for the Pioneers, Katz led the Red & White with 32 goals and 15 assists for 47 total points. He was named a USILA Scholar All-American as well as a NEILA Scholar Athlete. Katz also represented SHU in the NEILA East/West All-Star Game and the North/South USILA All-Star Game, which he scored two goals in and collected an assist.
Katz is the second Pioneer selected in a MLL draft, joining Tony Tanzi who was the 46th player taken in the 2008 draft by the Boston Cannons.
Last year, the Lizards finished fifth in the league with a 5-7 record.
Katz and Robert Morris alumnus Patrick Smith are the only players to represent the Northeast Conference in the draft.
