Men’s Lacrosse Players Team up with “Ali’s Angels”
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (September 13, 2010) – The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team took part in the Liver Life Walk at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. this Sunday to support Sacred Heart student Alison Cubbellotti. The Pioneers joined Cubbellotti's team, Ali's Angels, for the first time this year to help raise money for American Liver Foundation (ALF).
Ali's Angels was one of the top fundraising teams at the event with a total of $4,365.18 raised toward research for a cure for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). Ali is a junior nursing major at SHU who has PSC. Last October she received a liver transplant from another Sacred Heart student. Without the piece of liver she received from her donor, John, PSC would have taken her life.
After a long year of recovery, for both Ali and John, she has returned to Sacred Heart and completing her education. John graduated last year and Ali hopes to begin her career as a pediatric nurse following graduation.
