Pioneers Host Holy Cross Tuesday Night at Milford Ice Pavilion
Setting the Scene... Sacred Heart starts its rescheduled series with Holy Cross Tuesday night at Milford Ice Pavilion. The two teams will meet at the Hart Center next Monday.
Last Time Out... Sacred Heart allowed nine goals in a 9-1 loss to American International at Milford Ice Pavilion. Senior Eric Delong scored the lone Pioneers goal on the power play.
Top Line Production ... Eric Delong, Brian Sheehan, and Ben Ketchum were the top line Saturday night against AIC, and have combined for 14 points in the month of February. Delong has three goals and three assists this month, Ketchum with two goals and three assists, and Sheehan with a goal and two assists.
Points From the Blue Line... Sacred Heart's defensemen have tallied 16 points in the last 10 games. Sophomore Jared Eng has led this point production with one goal and five assists over that span. Four of Eng's six points have come on the power play. Will Rayner has added two goals and three assists in the last five games, while freshman Jacob Brightbill has contributed three assists. Bryan Felice has had two assists during this stretch.
Sheehan Keeps Scoring ... Brian Sheehan became the first Pioneer to reach double-figures in goals this season with a pair of power-play tallies against Air Force Jan. 19-20. His 11 goals this season surpass his total from a year ago. Sheehan has tallied a point in seven of the last eight games with his assist Saturday night against AIC. He had a nine-game point-scoring streak from Nov. 11 - Dec. 31.
Scouting the Crusaders... Holy Cross is 15-11-2 overall this season and 11-8-2 in Atlantic Hockey. The Crusaders split a weekend series with Connecticut last weekend, with each team winning 4-1. Kyle Fletcher leads Holy Cross with 24 points, scoring 10 goals with 14 assists. Rob Linsmayer and Evan Zych also have 14 assists. Brandon Nunn and Adam Schmidt each lead the Crusaders with 11 goals. Goaltender Matt Ginn is 14-10-2 on the year with a 2.76 goals against average.
