(Fairfield, CT) – Former Sacred Heart University men's hockey star Matt Gingera (Winnipeg, MB) has signed a professional contract with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League.
Gingera continues his professional career after signing with the Chicago Express of the ECHL at the conclusion of the 2011-12 hockey season before returning to Sacred Heart to finish his education and earn his bachelor's degree. He scored one goal in six games with Chicago.
One of the most prolific scorers in Pioneer Hockey history, Gingera is fourth all-time on the SHU career goals list with 61 and tied for eighth on the all-time points list with 109. He led the Pioneers in 2011-12 with 17 goals, 16 assists, and 33 points - his highest season point total and second-highest season goal total.
