Men's Hockey Falls 6-1 at Holy Cross
Worcester, MA- The Men's Ice Hockey team took to the ice on Friday night in search of their second win in a row, four second-period goals by the Crusaders charged Holy Cross to a 6-1 win over the Pioneers Friday night at the Hart Center.
After the Crusaders took a 1-0 lead into the locker room on a power play goal by by Brandon Nunn at 17:41 , the Pioneers and Crusaders skated for the first 7:41 of the second period scoreless. Then, Reid MacLeod (Teulon, MB) scored his first of the season on a power play goal to knot the game at 1-1. Brian Sheehan (St. Louis, MO) found him with a cross-ice pass for the one-timer, set up also by Mitchell Stretch (Saskatoon, SK).
After MacLeod's goal, however, the Crusaders would go on to score five unanswered goals, four of them in the second period within four minutes of each other. Rob Linsmayer, Adam Schmidt, Erik Vos, and Kyle Fletcher all scored for Holy Cross in that span. Jay Silvia rounded out the Crusader attack with 4:44 reaming in the third period to give the Crusaders the 6-1 victory.
The Pioneers and Crusaders will take the ice again on Saturday afternoon at the Webster Bank Arena for a 4:00 pm face-off.
