Sacred Heart To Take on #3 Yale Tuesday Night at Ingalls Rink

Reunion of Coaches..Head Coach C.J. Marottolo leads Sacred Heart against the team for which he was an assistant coach for 13 seasons in the Yale Bulldogs.  Before leaving Yale to take the top job at SHU last year, Marottolo served as Associate Head Coach of the Bulldogs since 2003 and helped recruit many of the current Yale roster.  Yale assistant coach Dan Muse faces Sacred Heart, where he served as an assistant coach during the 2008-09 season.

About the Pioneers... The Pioneers are in search of the their second win of the season after tying Army 4-4 Saturday night.Tye Lewis, Eric Delong, Evan Mladenoff, and Ben Ketchum each scored for SHU.  Sacred Heart is in the midst of a stretch of five games in eight days, having lost to Holy Cross 7-2 Friday and tied Army Saturday.  The Pioneers travel to RIT for two games this weekend to take on the Atlantic Hockey Association defending  champion Tigers in rematch of last season's AHA championship game.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs...After sweeping Colgate on the road in a two-game series last weekend to improve their overall record to 7-1-0, the Bulldogs are now the # 3 ranked team in the nation in both the major national college hockey polls.  They are led by Broc Little (7-8-15), Denny Kearney (6-8-14), and Brian O'Neill (6-5-11), all of whom are in the top four in goals in the ECAC. 
 
Last Time They Met... In the first ever meeting between the two programs, Yale beat Sacred Heart 8-2 almost a year ago today on 11/24/09 at Ingalls Rink.  Evan Mladenoff and Nick Johnson scored SHU's two goals, while Brian O'Neill scored twice for Yale.  The Eli's outshot the Pioneers 42-15 for the game.
 
Berube and Delong Leading the Way... Senior forward David Berbube leads the team with three goals and six assists for nine points.  He has registered five points over the last four games. Sophomore forward Eric Delong has come on strong of late as well, reaching eight points on the season with a goal and an assist Saturday against Army.
 
MacLeod Coming Along...Sophomore forward Reid MacLeod is emerging as a dangerous sniper for the Pioneers.  Since returning to the SHU line-up six games ago, he has tallied three goals, including two on the power play, and added two assists.  His three goals already equals the three he scored in 23 games last year as a freshman.

Lots of Rubber at Legatto...Sophomore goalie Steven Legatto has made the second most saves in the AHA (369).  He has faced at least 40 shots five times this year, and faced 50 shots on goal twice. 

Boyd Picked in '10 NHL Draft...Freshman defenseman R.J. Boyd became just the second player in Atlantic Hockey Association history to be drafted when the Florida Panthers selected him with the183rd overall pick in the'10 NHL Draft.  The only other player drafted out of the AHA also came from Sacred Heart, when the New Jersey Devils picked Jason Smith.
