MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished sixth at the New England Division I Championship, held this past Saturday and Sunday at the Newport National Golf Course.
Redshirt-Junior Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) was the Pioneers' top finisher, carding an even par 72 on Sunday to finish the tournament at +4 and tied for fifth place. Ross Kronberg (New Canaan, Conn.) shot a pair of 76s to finish tied for 13th at eight over par for the weekend. Senior Josh Salah (Gloucester, Mass.) had two rounds of 77 to finish tied for 18th. Sam Barber (North Bay, Ontario) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring, improving by 10 strokes from Saturday to Sunday to finish 37th.
As a team, the Pioneers finished four strokes behind fourth-place Central Connecticut State. UConn won the tournament with a team score of 588, 12 strokes better than second place Rhode Island. Hartford finished third, followed by Bryant.
Sacred Heart now prepares for the upcoming Northeast Conference tournament , held at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. May 3-5.
