Josh Salah Continues Strong Early Play at Hartford Invitational

SOUTH KENT, CT (September 27, 2011) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished seventh overall at the Hartford Hawk Invitational on Tuesday, wrapping up the two-day event with a team score of 895.  For the second time this fall, junior Joshua Salah (Gloucester, MA) finished in a tie for first place and advanced to a playoff. 

Salah fired a three-round score of 213 on the par 72, 6,532 yard course at Bulls Bridge Golf Club.  Salah would be part of a four-player playoff for the individual title, tying with Jeb Buchanan of UConn, Jay Muleri of Loyola and Branden Chicorka of Rhode Island.  Salah would officiall tie for second overall on the leader board at the end of the event.  Buchanan would go on to win the trophy on the fourth hole edging out Muleri.

Salah shot a 70 over his first 18-holes and follwed with a 71 and 72.  In the season opening event at Central Connecticut, Salah finished tied for first before falling short in a playoff.

Finished tied for 31st overall was Pioneers senior Leopoldo Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and freshman Sam Barber (North Bay, Ontario).  The two posted matching scores of 226 over the three rounds. 

The Pioneers are at Yale this weekend for the annual McDonald Cup at The Course at Yale.
