FARMINGDALE, NY (September 18, 2011) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished seventh overall at The McLaughlin Tournament hosted by St. John's University at Bethpage Red Course over the weekend. The Pioneers played their way up from 11th place on day one to take seventh in a field of 18 teams.
SHU finished with a three-round team score of 860 posting their best round on Saturday with a 283. West Florida won the event with a score of 828 followed by TCU in second at 829.
Junior Josh Salah (Gloucester, MA) tied for ninth overall on the individual leaderboard, shooting a 207 over the three-round event. The course played to 6,734 yards and a par of 70 over 36 holes. Salah opened his tournament with a one under 69 and closed out the tournament with a three-under 67.
Senior Joseph Serrantino (Cromwel, CT) finished tied for 18th overall with a score of 212. Serrantino and classmate Leo Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) both fired even par 70's during play in round two. Garcia finished with a 36-hole score of 218 to tied for 41st.
The Pioneers are back on the course for the University of Hartford Invitational on September 26th and 27th.
