WETHERSFIELD, CT (September 10, 2011) - The defending Northeast Conference champion Sacred Heart men's golf team opened up their season on Saturday taking part in the Central Connecticut Blue Devil Invitational. The Pioneers will take a share of the lead in to round two on Sunday after firing a 286 on Saturday to match Laval Univeristy.
SHU junior Joshua Salah (Gloucester, MA) fired a two-under 69 on the par 71 course at the Wethersfield Country Club. Salah sits one stroke back of Sonny Michaud of Laval for the individual lead in the tournament.
Senior Bradley Neudorf (Virgil, Ontario) shot even par on Saturday to hold down sixth place while senior Joseph Serrantino (Cromwell, CT) sits in 11th place after carding a 72. Senior Taylor Griffin (Torrington, CT) is tied for 17th after shooting a 74.
The Pioneers and Laval sit one stroke in front of the University of Rhode Island in third place and six strokes in front of George Washington in fourth. The final round will take place on Sunday.
