Serrantino Shoots a Two-Over 73 in Round Two at the NCAA Regional
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - Junior Joseph Serrantino (Cromwell, Conn.) shot two-over par 73 (33-40). The Sacred Heart University men's golf team started the day on the back nine and Serrantino turned the last nine holes of the afternoon into a two-under 33 on four birdies and two bogeys. The Pioneers improved on their team score by six strokes with a collective 313 in round two of the NCAA Central Regional at the par-71, 7,025-yard Wolf Run Golf Club, hosted by Indiana University.
Through two rounds Serrantino is tied for 42nd place with a two-day 150 (77-73). Fellow junior Leopoldo Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) followed up his day one 77 with an 80 (40-40) on day two.
Sophomore Joshua Salah (Gloucester, Mass.) recorded the second best round two score for SHU with a 79. He opened the day with a 42 on the back nine, but recovered with a two-over par 37 on the front nine. Salah has totaled a 159 (80-79) through 36 holes of play.
Senior David Renski (North Stonington, Conn.) struggled for the second straight day with an 85 (41-44) to push his two-day score to 170 (85-85). Junior Jun Hardart (Warwick, Bermuda) improved his tournament-total to 168 (87-81) after trimming off six strokes from his first round score.
The final round gets underway for the Pioneers when Renski tees off from the 10th hole at 9:10 am.
Illinois and Alabama are currently tied for first at 562, while Sacred Heart remains in 14th. The host Indiana sits in ninth and its Big Ten foes Michigan and Iowa have claimed the third and fourth spots on the leaderboard. Illinois' Scott Langley holds a two-stroke lead over the field with a five-under 137 (68-69).
