|Title:||Assistant Coach - Defensive Line|
The 2014 campaign will be the third for Assistant Coach Justin Embler as a member of Coach Nofri's staff. Embler will once again work with the Pioneer defensive linemen this fall.
Embler's defensive line in 2013 helped anchor one of the nation's top defensive units, with Sacred Heart ranking 18th in total defense on the year. The Pioneers were second in the country with 128 tackles for loss, just one shy of the national leader. Embler mentored Troy Moore to a team-best 16.5 TFL's on the year and numerous postseason honors, which resulted in the senior named to the 2014 preseason Buck Buchanan Watchlist. His defensive linemen combined for 25.5 sacks during the Pioneers 2013 championship campaign.
Embler joined the coaching ranks in 2012 after wrapping up a successful playing career for Sacred Heart from 2008 through 2011. He turned his best season as a senior when he earned All-Northeast Conference second team honors. Embler made 60 tackles in 2011, registering 16.5 tackles for a loss. That stat was good for second in the NEC, behind only his teammate linebacker Chris Mandas. He also forced two fumbles and hauled in an interception. In his final game at Campus Field, Embler dove on a fumble in the end zone for a SHU touchdown against Duquesne.
Over his career, Embler finished with 192 total tackes from his defensive end position. He totalled 10.5 sacks over his four seasons.
