Year: Fourth Year

The 2015 campaign will be the fourth Justin Embler as a member of the SHU football coaching staf. He will once again work with the Pioneer defensive line.

Embler's defensive line played an integral role in the success of the SHU defensive unit, which finishe dthe season third in the nation in rushing defense and eighth in total defense.  Troy Moore, a Buck Buchanan Watch List member, earned First-Team All-NEC accolades for the second consecutive season, accumulating 6.0 TFL's on the season. Alog with Second-Team All-NEC selection Connor Candito, the SHU defensive line accumulated 34.5 tackles for loss on the way to a second consecutive NEC Championship.

The Pioneer defensive line was also a key component in the 2013 NEC Championship for the Pioneers.  Embler's group helped anchor one of the nation's top defensive units, with Sacred Heart ranking 18th in total defense and second in the nation with 128 tackles for loss, just one shy of the national leader. Embler mentored Moore to a team-best 16.5 TFL's on the year and numerous postseason honors, including Sports Network All-America and All-New England accolades. Embler's defensive linemen combined for 25.5 sacks during the Pioneers 2013 championship campaign.

Embler joined the coaching ranks in 2012 after wrapping up a successful playing career for Sacred Heart from 2008 through 2011.  He turned his best season as a senior when he earned All-Northeast Conference second team honors.  Embler made 60 tackles in 2011, registering 16.5 tackles for a loss.  That stat was good for second in the NEC, behind only his teammate linebacker Chris Mandas.  He also forced two fumbles and hauled in an interception.  In his final game at Campus Field, Embler dove on a fumble in the end zone for a SHU touchdown against Duquesne.

Over his career, Embler finished with 192 total tackes from his defensive end position.  He totalled 10.5 sacks over his four seasons.
