Sacred Heart kicker Chris Rogers (Cazenovia, NY) secured a spot on the 2011 All-New England All-Star team as voted on by New England Sportswriters. The red-shirt freshman brought stability to the Pioneers kicking game this season, knocking through all 11 of his field goal attempts. Rogers was the only kicker in Division I's FCS to finish the season with a 100 field goal percentage.
Rogers paced SHU with 63 points in 2011 and made several clutch field goal during the year. He booted through a game winning field goal with one minute remaining in regulation to propel Sacred Heart to a 24-21 victory over Columbia. Rogers was also the only freshman to be named to the All-Northeast Conference first-team.
The Pioneers finished the season 5-6 and look to be a program on the rise with the support of an accurate field goal specialist in Rogers.
