(Fairfield, CT) - The Sacred Heart Men's Fencing team was honored for its third consecutive Northeast Conference Fencing Championship with a ring presentation ceremony during halftime of the SHU Men's Basketball game against Holy Cross on December 5.
The Men's Fencing team won the championship last year behind an undefeated 10-0 record. Ten fencers qualified for the NCAA Regionals at Boston College, five fencers earned all NFC honors, two fencers advanced to the NCAA Championship at Ohio State. The Men and Women teams also tied Brown for the combined conference championship with a combined 20-2 record and placed 16th overall at the NCAA Championship.
The five fencers who earned all-conference accolades include:
Stuart Holmes – First Team All-Conference Foil (2nd consecutive year, 22nd at NCAA Championship)
Jonathan Jacovino –Second Team All-Conference Foil
Justin Dion- First Team All-Conference Epee (4th consecutive year)
Michael Fenech – First Team All-Conference Epee
Marty Williams – First Team All-Conference Saber (4th consecutive year), 15th at NCAA Championship
