Men's Basketball Adds Two More to 2014 Class
FAIRFIELD, Conn - Sacred Heart head men's basketball coach Anthony Latina announced the additions of student-athletes Chris Robinson (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes) and Filip Nowicki (Wloclanek, Poland/ Midwest Elite Pep) for the 2014-15 season. Robinson and Nowicki join freshmen Cane Broome (West Hartford, CT) and Vince Fritz (Overland Park, KS) who signed letters of intent in November, to complete Coach Latina's first recruiting class as head coach.
"We are thrilled to have Chris and Filip become part of our program and university community," said Coach Latina. "Both individuals are talented players but more importantly high character people that will help our program both on and off the court."
Nowicki is a 6'10'' center and native of Poland who starred this season at Midwest Elite Prep Academy in Northwest Indiana. Filip nearly averaged a double-double, recording 11 points and 9 rebounds per game. In addition to his time at Midwest Elite Prep, Nowicki also has extensive international experience playing for his home country. He most recently competed with the Polish U-18 National Team in the 2012 U-18 European Championships.
Robinson is a 6'2'' shooting guard from the Bronx, New York, who helped lead Cardinal Hayes High School to a 26-2 record in his senior season, as well as a Class AA Archdiocesan Division Tournament Championship, and reached the semi-finals of the CHSAA Class "AA" State Tournament. Cardinal Hayes was ranked as high as #1 in the New York City rankings by NYCHoops.com during the year. Robinson averaged 14 points per game as a senior, after averaging a team-high 17 points per game as a junior. Robinson, who played his AAU basketball for the prestigious New Heights AAU program, was widely considered one of the elite shooters in New York City.
"With the addition of Chris and Filip along with Cane Broome and Vince Fritz who signed early, we are very excited about the future of our program and its foundation," coach Latina commented.
