SHU Men's Hoops Signs Cole Walton for 2012-13

FAIRFIELD, CT (May 10, 2012) - Sacred Heart head men's basketball coach Dave Bike announced that Cole Walton (Bellevue, WA) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will attend Sacred Heart University and join the program this coming fall.  Walton is set to graduate this spring from Bellevue High School.

"We are very excited to have Cole join our program and university," stated head coach Dave Bike. "With his size and athleticism, we believe he has a chance to be a special player for our program. He is a high character person and an excellent student and will be a great addition to our university community."

A 6-11 center, Walton led his team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots this past year, guiding his team to a second place finish in the Washington State Playoffs.  A team captain and MVP, he led his team to a second place finish in the Kingco League.  Walton led the league in rebounding and blocks and averaged 12.5 points per game on his way to being named the Kingco Defensive Player of the Year as well as garnering all-conference first team honors in 2011-12.  He was named to the Bothell Holiday Classic Tournament after leading his team to a second place finish.

As a junior in 2010-11, Walton led his to a second place finish in the Washington State Championship while finishing with the second most blocks in the tournament.  He lead his team to both the Kingco and Seaking Championship and was selected to play on both the Xfinity All-Star Challenge and the Franklin Quarker Tournament All-Star teams. 

Walton will join Tevin Falzon to make up this season's recruiting class.  Falzon signed his National Letter of Intent back in November.  At 6-7, Felzon brings additional height and depth to the SHU front line.  He comes to Sacred Heart from Newton, MA out of Newton North High School and Winchendon School.
