Bridgeport, CT – The Sacred Heart Pioneers battled back from down 4-0 to cruise by Fairleigh Dickinson, 11-4, Sunday afternoon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Sacred Heart swept all four games against FDU, rebounding from losing three of four last weekend to Monmouth. The Pioneers improve to 19-9 in the Northeast Conference this season.
SHU starting pitcher Kody Kerski (Waterbury, CT) notched his fourth win of the season, allowing three runs in seven innings of work. Kerski is now 4-2 on the season with a 2.33 earned run average (first on the team).
SHU scored five runs in the third to take the lead after staking the Knights the 4-0 lead. The Pioneers had seven guys knock in at least one run on the afternoon.
Freshman Jesus Medina (New York, NY) went 3-5 at the dish with a couple of RBI of his own. Medina's single in the third inning, scoring Brian Lamboy (Manalapan, NJ) tied the game at four. Lamboy doubled in two Pioneers earlier in the inning. The freshman second baseman, Lamboy, went 7-16 with 7 RBI in the four game sweep.
Sacred Heart hits the road this week as they travel to Emmitsburg, MD to take on Mount St. Mary's for a four game NEC series starting Thursday afternoon.
